Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere facing UEFA probe over Twitter comments
From ANILondon, Dec 8(ANI): Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to face a UEFA probe after appearing to boast about betting on his team.
Wilshere had suggested that he had placed a wager on teammate Emmanuel Frimpong in Arsenal's Champions League match with Olympiakos on Tuesday, the Sun reports.
The 19-year-old, who is currently out with an ankle injury, had said on Twitter that Frimpong was "worth a cheeky 10 pounds" to open the scoring at odds of 150/1.
And during the game, when Frimpong hit the goal's side netting with the score at 0-0, he tweeted: "Frimmy nearly won me some money there!"
All footballers are banned from betting on games involving their own sides, even if they are not taking part themselves.
