Digvijay Singh lashes out at Hazare

Gwalior, Sep 5: Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has slammed veteran social activist Anna Hazare for allegedly using foul language against politicians.

In his first public speech after recovering from an almost two-week fast, Hazare dubbed the central government as 'cunning' and its ministers as liars.

Criticising Hazare, Singh urged the veteran activist to refrain from using foul language.

"Anna Hazare should not have used such foul language. Every person has certain self-respect, and Anna Hazare should not have used such foul language," he said.

Meanwhile, lashing out at Hazare's close aide Arvind Kejriwal for violating a government bond during his tenure in Indian civil service, Singh said: "This notice was not sent today, it had been issued in 2005-2006. Why did he (Kejriwal) break the rules, when the service rules clearly stated that he had to serve in the government for a period of two years? He had received the notice much earlier, it was not issued today."

Singh further said the government could not give differential treatment to Kejriwal merely because he was an activist, and that he would have to follow the existing rules.

"Now, Kejriwal wants the government to grant him his pension and provident fund, without having served his tenure. This is not possible till he follows the set rules. There are millions of government employees across the country. Should they be placed under the same set of rules and regulations, or should the government formulate separate rules for Mr. Kejriwal?" said Singh.

He also stirred a hornet's nest by calling Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev 'a thief,' while highlighting the difference between him and Hazare.

"There is a huge difference between them. Baba Ramdev is a thief, while Anna Hazare is a social activist," said Singh.
