Massive fire damages chemical factory in UP

Sehri (Uttar Pradesh), June 22: A major fire broke out at a pesticide-manufacturing factory in Uttar Pradesh's Sehri District on Wednesday, destroying goods worth millions of rupees.

The factory caught fire at around 4.00 a.m. due to a short circuit.

"The fire is massive and due to this the neighbouring building was also damaged and poses a threat now. All residents of the buildings next door have been evacuated," said Kapiv Dev Agrawal, Chairman of the Municipal Corporation.

Several drums containing chemicals and diesel were inside the factory at the time of the fire and that increased the intensity of the flames.

Fire officials are still struggling to control the flames.

No casualties have been reported so far.
