Iran just eight weeks away from producing nuclear weapon: Expert

London, June 7(ANI): Iran is only a matter of weeks away from being able to create a nuclear weapon, an expert has said.

According to The Daily Mail, RAND Corporation researcher Gregory S. Jones has published a report this week explaining the severity of the situation.

Jones believes that Iran has produced 38.3 kilograms of uranium enriched at 19.7 per cent.

If its centrifuges continue to work at the current capacity, it will take around two months for the Iranian regime to produce the 20 kilograms of uranium enriched to 90 per cent required for the production of a nuclear warhead, the report said.

He added that despite reports of setbacks in its nuclear program, the Iranian regime is steadily progressing towards a bomb.

In order to halt the process, Jones comments that ground forces would need to be deployed, as airstrikes will no longer be sufficient.

The researcher based his report on recent findings by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), published two weeks ago.
