Fury over delay of delivery of Oprah’s pink diamond necklace in Oz
Melbourne, May 5: Anger erupted over the delay in delivery of a pink Argyle diamond necklace that Oprah Winfrey had promised to her guests during her tour in Australia.
Angry fans bombarded Facebook and Oprah fan sites chasing news on the luxury gifts, which were expected within three months of the December tapings last year, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Adding to the fury over the lateness, the jewellery has also been out-sourced to Asian jewellery manufacturer Chow Tai Fook and will be made in China.
The company is also selling the limited edition style via its website for HK1800 dollars.
Winfrey, 57, had showcased the local pink diamonds during the evening recording of her talk show in Sydney as a luxury keepsake of her Ultimate Australian Adventure tour.
Each of the 6000-strong audience were then given gift certificates to claim the limited edition necklace, featuring Rio Tinto Argyle diamonds on a white gold chain necklace.
A Rio Tinto spokesman said the necklaces had been sent to Australia Post for registered mail delivery.
