Tibetan PM-in-exile says talks with China in right direction
From ANIBodh Gaya, Jan 8: Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile has said that talks with China are headed in the right direction.
Rinpoche also thanked India for hosting the Tibetan refugees for over five decades.
"Tibetan refugees are living in India for past 50 years, considering it their own home.
And this time I would like to thank the people and the Indian government to have bear with us. There is nothing yet decided in this regard and talks are in progress with China.
We only demand people's support and unity in this issue and hope it will be resolved," Rinpoche told reporters here. The Dalai Lama is holding a five-day prayer session.
"I do not need to say anything else, whatever is in progress is going good, and things will be resolved," he added.
In 1950, the Chinese troops marched into Tibet and occupied it. An estimated 134,000 Tibetans live in exile, a majority of them in India and Nepal.
Sympathizers of the Tibetans have accused China of repressing the religious aspirations of the Tibetans, specially, the exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
