President Patil praises sand sculpture on global warming
From ANIPuri, Dec 9: President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday visited the Puri beach to witness the sand art based on the concept of global warming.
The sand art was prepared by internationally acclaimed artist Sudarsan Pattnaik.
President Patil is on a two-day visit to the famous Jagannath temple here.
The sand sculpture is inspired by the Copenhagen Climate summit, which being held to deal with the issues about global warming and environment.
Pattnaik explained his inspiration behind the sand sculptor to President Patil and other dignitaries.
"Specially this sculpture was about global warming, thinking about the world climate summit taking place in Copenhagen. We wanted to show climate change through this sand sculptor. So we made three green globes, to show the beauty that the colour green has, in another globe we have shown how ice melts and in another globe we have shown the effect that cutting down of trees has. So, we created three globes," said Sudarsan Pattnaik.
The President praised his efforts in trying to bring about awareness about the global cause.
Nations have come together at Copenhagen to discuss issues pertaining to the challenges posed by global warming and its effects on the humanity at large.
