Cinema Bill to be placed in parliament in 2010: Tagore
From ANIPanaji (Goa), Dec.3: A draft cinematography bill has been given to Indian Ministry for Information and Broadcasting, Censor Board chairperson and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore said here on Wednesday.
However, she said that the bill was not likely to be placed in parliament anytime before next year.
"Yes, our draft is with the Ministry, we have given the amended draft and it has been with the Ministry for some time and they said that it will go to the Parliament in the Winter Session, but hopefully in the next session the draft will be placed in the Parliament," Tagore said on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of India.
The bill has the provision that there should be explanation if the film contains explicit language, violence or sex, besides mentioning the certification on the posters.
The bill follows recommendations made by a six-member committee formed seven years ago to suggest changes to the Cinematography Act, 1952.
