When Pete Doherty's heart stopped
From ANILondon, Nov 25: Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty calls it a "strange turn of events" when he was put on life support last month after his heart stopped.
The 30-year-old had to be hospitalised for "poisoning" on October 12, reports the Sun.
"If I hadn't been on a life support machine I'd have been in Ireland. But my heart stopped," the Sun quoted Doherty as talking about the ordeal when he was admitted at Swindon's Great Western Hospital.
"It was a really strange turn of events."
Doherty, who has struggled with drugs in the past, told NME: "Obviously, the doctors' immediate thought was that it was to do with drugs but it wasn't - it was some kind of poisoning.
"What happened? Well, I don't know, I don't remember. At the time I thought I was a taxi driver offering to take everyone to Elephant And Castle.
"I was running into the walls, making steering wheel signs with my hands. And then I just... stopped.
"My body just stopped."
The rockstar was given the all-clear by doctors after a short stay in the hospital.
He added: "The doctors are concerned about my heart rate.
"I've always had a slight dickie heart, I was born with it. I'm fragile in there, you know?"
The singer is slated to be back with Babyshambles next month.
