Oz spinner Krejza pulls out 'doosra' in bid for recall
From ANISydney, Nov 23(ANI): Tasmania spinner Jason Krejza has pulled out his version of the 'doosra' in bid for a recall to the national squad.
Krejza used the 'doosra' during a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales. He was bowling to Usman Khawaja, when the ball landed a metre outside the offstump and jagged back to rattle the stumps.
With the Australian selectors still searching for a matchwinning spinner in the post- Shane Warne era, Krejza's new ball puts him in line for another chance.
Talking about his new experiment, Krejza said: "It's been a bit of a secret. I've been working on it in pre-season for a while with Tim Paine (Tasmania wicketkeeper).
"I just wanted to work on something new in the pre-season, and we just started saying, 'Let's try it this way.' It started working." I just thought it was a good opportunity, while the wicket at the SCG was turning quite a lot and there were marks outside the off stump for the left-hander, to give it a go," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Krejza, as saying.
The 26-year-old also said that he would be practicing the delivery in the nets and unveil it in the international arena.
"The more you bowl it in games, the more confident you're going to get in it. So, I'll obviously look to do that. I'll bowl it more in the nets and try to keep it out of sight as much as I can," Krejza said.
