Death toll rises to 20 in Kolkata liquour tragedy
From ANIKolkata, Jan 5: The death toll in the Kolkata's illict liquour tragedy has risen to 20.
According to official sources, some are still critical and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
All the victims are labourers of the Hide Road area near Khiddirpur.
On Sunday, police raided shops selling hooch and arrested shop owners, including three women.
Debasis Roy, Joint Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, said that three persons have been arrested in connection with case so far.
Scores of people die in the country every year after consuming country made liquor.
There is a thriving illicit business in India as poor people find it a lot cheaper than legally brewed alcohol.
