Pak to provide best security for Sri Lanka series :ICC
From ANILahore, Dec 24: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that Pakistan would provide best security to everyone involved in the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka.
"From the ICC's perspective, what would be required is that the match officials are afforded the same level of security as any or everyone else involved in the series and the ICC would expect that to be the case in the forthcoming series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka," The News quoted an ICC spokesman, as saying.
The ICC would not sanction the Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan if its match officials were not safe emerged after ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat in Mohali had said that there was need for further security assessments by the ICC ahead of the tour.
"Security assessment is an ongoing process as we move towards the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in one city from September 24 to October 5. We would have done that during the Pakistan - India tour had taken place," the spokesman said.
The spokesman added that officials also have the choice not to attend a tour like the players.
