Pak Kashmir trade team arrives in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 13: A 19-member business delegation from Pakistan administered Kashmir met industry leaders here last evening.

The traders from across the border will stay here for three days to discuss modalities for cross-border commerce, which is expected to start from October 21.

"We are happy that after five years a trade delegation has come here. This will mark the start of LoC trade," said Ram Sahay, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Jammu.

Earlier, the delegation spent three days in Srinagar.

"We will see what things are available here and we will place orders accordingly," said Shabir Ahmed Chechee, a businessman from Muzaffarabad. India and Pakistan have agreed on arrangements to open a border route for bilateral trade in Kashmir.

A joint working group comprising senior government officials from both countries earlier held talks on starting border trade in Kashmir.

Officials said bilateral trade would help improve ties between the two countries.
