Chiranjeevi's 'Praja Rajyam Party' rules out alliance with BJP, TDP
From ANINew Delhi, Oct 11: Film star Chiranjeevi's party, 'Praja Rajyam Party' today ruled out any alliance with either the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) after discussing a possible tie up with Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Andhra Pradesh.
Allu Aravind, the brother-in-law of Chiraneevi, after a 30-minute meeting with CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and politburo member Sitaram Yechury, said the party would "stick to secularism" when asked by reporters whether the party would align with the BJP to defeat the ruling Congress in the state.
He also ruled out any tie-up with the TDP in the upcoming polls.
Aravind also met Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and Lok Sabha MP G Sudhakar Reddy at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Meanwhile, the CPI (M) leadership has been in touch with their counterparts in the TDP and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to take a final call on the proposal of Andhra Pradesh unit on the electoral tactics to ensure defeat of the ruling Congress.
The CPI (M) is set to take a final decision on the poll tie-up at its three-day Central Committee meeting in Kolkata starting on Sunday.
