Conference of presiding officers of the legislative bodies today

Chandigarh, Sept 21: The 73rd conference of Presiding Officers of the Legislative Bodies of the country will begin here today.

The Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, will inaugurate the conference inside the Haryana Vidhan Sabha complex.

On Saturday, a conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies was held that discussed the issues to be taken up in today's Presiding Officers' Conference.

After inaugurating the Secretaries' Conference, the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha, P.D.T. Acharya said: "Anti-defection law and the role of the whip are among the subjects discussed at the conference."

He further said that the Rajya Sabha will have a separate TV channel on the pattern of the Lok Sabha TV channel to enable the people to view proceedings of both the houses.
