Peshawar lawyers say a `sacked' Chaudhry is 'isolated'
From ANIPeshawar, Sept.7: Lawyers in Peshawar have claimed that the sacked Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, has become 'isolated' after three sacked Supreme Court (SC) judges and 15 high court judges, including the Peshawar High Court (PHC) chief justice took a fresh oath of office.
The Daily Times quoted Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) President Abdul Lateef Afridi as saying that the manner in which the restoration has started is "unfair", but it was good that competent judges were returning.
In contrast PHCBA Secretary-General Mohammad Essa Khan termed the taking of fresh oaths as "unconstitutional and illegal".
