Nepal Maoists form committee for political appointments
From ANIKathmandu, Sept 6: CPN-Maoist has formed a five-member committee under party Chairman and Prime Minister Prachanda to discuss political appointments in the government.
The committee will choose concerned persons for certain political appointments. Other members in the committee are Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Mohan Baidhya, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Post Bahadur Bogati.
During the meeting, leaders urged Prachanda to propose review of all unequal treaties including the 1950 Peace and Friendship Treaty during the latter's visit to India.
"Prachanda should strongly present Nepal's position on all unequal treaties with India," said Maoist Central Committee member Dinanath Sharma.
According to source, some leaders called for suggestions on the government's policy and program and criticized the party leadership for failing to maintain inclusiveness while nominating ministers.
The party has called another meeting on September 11 to discuss other issues.
Prachanda is scheduled to visit India on September 14.
This will be his first visit to India after becoming the first elected Prime Minister of the federal republic Nepal.
Prachanda is also scheduled to attend the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York this month, Kantipur reported.
