Palin changed six colleges in six years because she didn't like the weather!
From ANINew York, Sep 6: Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin changed colleges six times in six years - sometimes because she just didn't like the weather.
Palin began her college in 1982 after graduating from Wasilla High School in Alaska, her biography titled "Sarah," said. She and three friends enrolled at the University of Hawaii in Hilo.
Upon arrival in Hilo, it rained for three weeks straight. She and her friends quickly realized that Hilo is located on the rainy side of the Big Island, the Daily News reported.
"Once we got there, we hated it," Tilly Ketchum, one of Palin's friends, recalled in the biography, written months before she was named the GOP's vice presidential nominee.
To get away from the rain, Palin and her friends quickly transferred to Hawaii Pacific University on sunny Oahu. When they weren't studying, the women visited the set of "Magnum P.I.," the biography noted.
Oahu's unlimited sunshine quickly lost its appeal for the Alaska girls.
In the spring of 1983, Palin and Ketchum transferred to North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, about 30 miles east of Spokane. She attended the two-year school for two semesters.
Ketchum said she and Palin took a communications class and a political science class. Ketchum said she never sensed Palin was interested in politics.
To continue her studies in journalism and political science, Palin transferred to the University of Idaho, the state's flagship institution. She attended from the fall of 1984 to spring 1985.
In the fall of 1985, Palin returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer. She was there for only one semester.
Palin re-matriculated at the University of Idaho in the spring of 1986, finally earning a bachelor's degree in 1987. Her major was journalism; her minor, political science.
Palin explained in a profile in the alumni magazine that her curiosity and love of writing drew her to journalism.
