Dutch church tower that leans more than leaning Tower of Pisa!
From ANILondon, Aug 29: A 12th-century church tower in the Dutch town of Bedum is challenging the Tower of Pisa as Europe's 'most steeply leaning tower'.
A retired geometrician, Jacob van Dijk, said measurements this week on Bedum's 36m church tower of Walfridus revealed it is now leaning more than its Italy's Tower of Pisa.
At a 55.86m, Pisa's tower leans about 4m, while Bedum's tower leans 2.61m on its height of 35.7m.
Mr van Dijk said that if both towers were the same height, Bedum would have a greater tilt of 6cm.
"In Italy they're happy, but here in Bedum we are much more happy, because the tower of Pisa is now leaning less than the tower of Bedum," Scotsman quoted, him as saying.
