$196M lottery ticket bought in Ohio town

CINCINNATI, May 17 (UPI) -- The winning ticket for a $196 million Mega Millions jackpot was purchased at a liquor store in the village of Amelia, Ohio, a lottery spokeswoman says.

Lottery spokeswoman Marie Kilbane said the winning ticket was bought at Main Street Wine & Spirits, but the owner of the establishment does not know who bought it, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Saturday.

Store owner Mike Goldstein did say he knows selling the winning ticket will earn his store a $100,000 payment.

"It's great for us, but better for the winner," Goldstein said.

The $196 million jackpot marked the third largest Mega Millions payout in Ohio to date. The Enquirer said two winning tickets were sold in Ohio in 2006, worth $265 million and $270 million respectively.

The newspaper said an additional 17 players matched all but the Mega Ball number in Friday's drawing and will receive $250,000 a piece for their winning tickets.
