Muslims protest against Jaipur bomb blasts

From ANI

New Delhi, May 15: Muslims led by one of the prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) Shahnawaz Hussain protested against Jaipur bomb blasts and called for strict measures to deal with terrorism in New Delhi today.

Shahnawaz Hussain said the community will fight against terrorism by all means.

"The Muslim community in India has taken a pledge to come together and fight against terrorism. As a minority community we appeal to the central government to take some strict action on this issue," said Hussain.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has been accusing the Congress-led UPA government of being soft on terrorists. The party has alleged that while governments across the world have tightened anti-terrorist laws in the aftermath of 9/11, the UPA government has relaxed or annulled anti-terrorist laws like Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).

Activists of the anti-terrorism front also staged a demonstration against the Tuesday's blasts in the national capital today.

The protestors urged the authorities to speedily identify the culprits and punish them severely.

The serial blasts in Jaipur on May 13 caused by bombs which were implanted in bicycles killed around 60 people and injured more than 150 persons.

In August last year, three bombs killed 38 people inside an amusement park and at a street-side food stall in Hyderabad, a city in southern India which is home to a booming outsourcing industry.

In November, nearly simultaneous explosions in three northern Indian cities -- Varanasi, Lucknow and Faizabad -- killed at least 13 people.
