Ashley Judd reveals her 'unsafe and unstable' childhood

From ANI

New York, May 15: American actress Ashley Judd, who travels the world as a global ambassador for YouthAIDS, has revealed that she never had an easy childhood.

In a recent interview with Town and Country magazine, the actress revealed that she never had her normal, natural little girl needs met.

"I had a very unsafe and unstable childhood about ten months out of the year," the New York Daily News quoted the "De-Lovely" actress, as saying.

"I didn't have my normal, natural little girl needs met," she added.

The 40-year-old actress narrated how she once even skipped an entire week of school as a child while her mom, country music star Naomi Judd, was away touring.

"I didn't have a ride and I'd gotten ashamed of calling friends," she stated.

"I had my first childhood depression at eight - severe, intense, hole-in-the-soul loneliness. No one noticed," she added.

Growing up, Judd has learned to focus on the needs of others, noticeably in her role as a Global Ambassador for YouthAIDS, an organization, which delivers products and services to poor populations.

"It's unmistakable to me that it's a holy and righteous thing to be with the poor," Judd said.

"Ideally, I'm going to do human rights work the rest of my life," she added.
