UK watchdog bans teen drama Skins 'orgy' poster

From ANI

London, May 15: A poster that shows two of UK teen drama 'Skins' surrounded by couples apparently taking part in an orgy has been banned by the country's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

The ASA decided to stop bosses from using the poster to promote the Channel 4 drama because they felt the image "could cause serious or widespread offence".

Added to this was the feeling that it was inappropriate for poster sites that could be viewed by kids.

According to BBC, the ASA made the decision after receiving 42 complaints about the poster.

However, it dismissed further complaints that the "orgy" poster condoned underage sex.

The body also rejected a complaint about a second poster that shows actor Nicholas Hoult's character lying submerged in a bath with his eyes open.

On its part, Channel 4 stated that the poster was not meant to cause offence.

It added that the second series of Skins clearly showed the "consequences of hedonistic and irresponsible behaviour".
