Bombings may force Warne, Watson to go home

From ANI

Melbourne, May 15: Australian cricket stars Shane Warne and Shane Watson are considering quitting the Indian Premier League after terrorist bombings in Jaipur killed scores of people.

Eight bombs were set off simultaneously during peak-hour among crowded markets in Jaipur on Tuesday night, killing 63 people and wounding 216.

Warne and Watson play for Rajasthan Royals, who are based in Jaipur, and Macquarie National News has reported that the Australians, team manager Darren Berry and South African teammate Graeme Smith have refused to return to the city, and may leave the country altogether.

Berry, a former Victoria wicketkeeper, described the situation as "terrifying" and was quoted by Fox Sports as saying that the Australians had found themselves in an extremely uncomfortable situation.

Berry said Warne had questioned whether the team would have gone to Jaipur had the blasts occurred before they arrived in the city.

IPL chief executive Lalit Modi has said that extra security will be provided for the duration of the tournament, but organisers have no plans to delay future matches.

The Royals are set to host a match in Jaipur this weekend.
