Indian national robbed by Malaysian policeman

From ANI

Kuala Lumpur, May 12: Seven men including a Malaysian policeman allegedly beat up and robbed an Indian national, Ayyavu Gannapandhithan, of 2,545 Ringgit, a hand phone and a digital camera in an alley near the Masjid Jamek Light Rail Transit station here.

City CID chief Ku Chin Wah confirmed that two men were arrested over the case and one of them was a constable from Dang Wangi.

Ayyavu (34) claimed that he single-handedly held two of his attackers for five minutes while being beaten and punched, until a police patrol car arrived and arrested both men.

The Indian National worked as a cook in Petaling Jaya for three years and had gone to a bank near Masjid Jamek at 4.30 p.m. on Wednesday to send money to his family in India when a man in his 20s, who claimed to be a policeman, approached him and flashed his police identification card.

"I showed him my passport after he asked to inspect it, then suddenly, I was grabbed by three other men and pushed into a deserted alley," Ayyavu said.

"They started punching and hitting me with a helmet. I tried to push them back but three other people appeared and began hitting me as well," the Star Online quoted him, as saying.
