Taylor Swift Biography
Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. She is an American country music singer-songwriter having signed with the Machine Records label in 2006. Early in her life, Swift was influenced by her grandmother who was a professional opera singer, even though Swift's own tastes have always ran more toward country music. She was also influenced by LeAnn Rimes and loved the music of Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton as well. Credit was also given to both the Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain by Swift since these singers have demonstrated what an impact can be made by stretching boundaries.
When Swift was only 10-years-old she began singing around her hometown of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. She sang at karaoke contests, festivals and fairs. It was also at this time that she began writing songs. Her first exposure to the actual music business itself was when she began making demo tapes at a studio. Then when she was 11-years-old Swift made her first trip to Nashville, Tennessee where she hoped to obtain a record deal by handing out her demo tapes. She was so determined to make it that she actually handed her tape to the receptionist at every label on Music Row. However, it was not until she returned home and sang the national anthem at the U.S. Open tennis tournament. This led to her being offered the opportunity to sign with a record label, which she turned down since it was not where she wanted to be. Nevertheless, she continued visiting Nashville, where she began writing songs with the songwriters when she was only 12-years-old. Eventually her parents moved there and Swift caught the eye of Big Machine Records while performing at Nashville's premier songwriter's cafe, The Bluebird Cafe.
