Rachel McAdams Biography
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November 17, 1976 in London, Ontario, Canada. She is a Canadian actress who has been nominated for a BAFTA Award. McAdams is best known for the roles that she has played in the Hollywood films Mean Girls, The Notebook, Wedding Crashers and Red Eye.
When she was only 4-years-old McAdams began taking up competitive figure skating. She then continued on to take up acting when she was only 13-years-old. Her start with acting occurred while she was attending a summer theater camp that was located in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, which is where she was born and raised. The name of this summer camp was Original Kids. The company eventually went on to become a year around company, McAdams was invited to continue with them. Since the company also relocated to London, Ontario, Canada, which was where she was still living at that time, she accepted the offer to continue training with them.
While attending secondary school at Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas. McAdams starred in the Award-winning student production I Live in a Little Town. After graduating from this public school, McAdams continued on to attend and then graduate from York University in Toronto. She graduated with Honours and a Bachelors degree in Theater. It was during her fourth year at York University in Toronto that McAdams played a child in The Piper. This was a workshop that was led by a creative team from Toronto's Necessary Angel Theatre Company. It was also during this time that McAdams also continued to attend the Original Kids Theatre Company in London, Ontario. Plus McAdams also took David Rotenberg's on camera acting class in Toronto, Canada. She attended this class with fellow actors Scott Speedman, Kenneth Mitchell, Polly Shannon and David Sutcliffe.
