Mischa Barton Biography
Mischa Barton was born on January 24, 1986 in London, England, UK. She is a British American film, television and stage actress who has won the Teen Choice Award in 2004 and then again in 2006. Perhaps, the role that she is the best known for though is her role as Marissa Cooper in the American television series The O.C.
In 1990, at the age of 4-years-old, Barton moved to New York City and later she became a naturalized citizen of the United States in Los Angeles on February 3, 2006. Before becoming a citizen though, Barton graduated from the Professional Children's School in Manhattan in 2004. Two years later, in the summer of 2006, Barton began attending classes at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. It was then, at the age of 9-years-old, that Barton began her acting career. She co-starred in the of Broadway premier of Slavs!, which was written by Tony Kushner. She then went on to appear in several other off Broadway productions as well. In fact, in James Lapine's Twelve Dreams at Lincoln Center, she took on a lead role. From there she went on to make her film debut in Lawn Dogs, which won awards at film festivals around the world. She also made her television debut in 1996 in the role of young Lily Montgomery on the American soap opera All My Children. Her next television role was in a modern day re-make of Bonnie and Clyde. She also guest-starred in eight episodes of Once and Again where she played Jessie Sammler's girlfriend, Katien Singer.
Barton has since been in several films, including The Sixth Sense, Notting Hill, St. Trinians and Closing the Ring. She has also been on television in an episode of the FOX series Fastlane, James Blunt's music video "Goodbye My Lover" and Enrique Iglesias' music video "Addicted."
