Emily Blunt Biography

Emily Blunt was born on February 23, 1983 in Roehampton, London, England. She decided upon an acting career when she was only 16-years-old. It was at this time that she began attending Hurtwood House. This is a sixth-form college that is known for its performing arts program. It was here that Emily Blunt was able to actually attract her very first agent.

While still attending Hurtwood House Emily Blunt made her professional debut in a new play that was commissioned by the National Theater at the 2000 Edinburgh Festival. In fact, she was an A-level student at that point in time.

Since her very first acting role in 2000, Emily Blunt has gone on to become a Golden Globe Award-winning English actress. She has been in numerous television shows and movies since that time.

In 2003, Emily Blunt made her television screen debut. This was in the British television drama Boudica, which was about the life of the ancient British warrior-queen who fought the Romans. During this same year she also was in a two-part British television drama entitled Henvry VIII wherein she played Queen Catherine Howard. While she received a lo of praise for these roles, her breakout role did not come until 2004 when she appeared in the British movie, My Summer of Love. For her role in this movie she won the Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer. She shared this award with her co-star in this movie, Nathlie Press.

Some of the other movies and television series that Emily Blunt has appeared in include The Devil Wears Prada, Gideon's Daughter, Irresistible and The Girl In The Park. Currently she is filming The Young Victoria. For her roles in some of these films she has won the 2007 Golden Globes Best Supporting Actress award for BBC TV films and Entertainment Weekly's Best Female Scene-Stealer award.
