David Beckham Biography
David Robert Joseph Beckham was born on May 2, 1975 at Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone, London, England. As a child he played football on a regular basis in Ridgeway Park, Chingford and for the local youth team, which was called the Ridgeway Rovers and was coached by his father. He also attended Jewish synagogue on a regular basis with his parents and two sisters (Joanne and Lynne). Beckham's parents were huge Manchester United supporters, to the point that they were fanatical and would frequently travel to Old Trafford from London to attend Manchester United's home matches. Thus, Manchester United football was just naturally in his genes.
Beckham attended one of Bobby Charlton's football schools in Manchester. While there he won a talent competition. The prize was the opportunity to take part in a training session at FC Barcelona. He actually was a Manchester United mascot for a match against West Ham United in 1986. In 1990 Beckham played for Brimsdown Rovers' youth team for two years. It was here he that was named Under-15 Player of the Year. Also during his youth, Beckham had trials with his local club Leyton Orient, Norwich City and attended Tottenham Hotspur's. The first club that he ever played for was actually Tottenham Hotspur's. After playing for this club he went on to attend Bradenton Preparatory Academy. However, on his fourteenth birthday he signed the papers to attend Manchester United and then continued on to sign a Youth Training Scheme contract on 8 July 1991. Beckham made his first team debut with Manchester United in 1992 at the age of seventeen.
Today Beckham is English professional footballer who plays midfielder. He is also captain of the Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy and a member of England's national team. In March of 2008 Beckham earned his one hundredth cap for England against France.
He is married to Posh Spice, better known as Victoria Beckham.
