Do we need more OSes? Some feel that the domination of Windows is the biggest evil that is stagnating the PC industry. But is the answer really more OSes?

Honestly, does anyone understand Microsoft’s point in offering upgrade media for Windows 7? As well, what’s with the different versions?

I seem to go through cars far too quickly. My latest is a 2010 Ford Fusion with the Microsoft SYNC system, which is a geek’s dream!

Well, as usual, Microsoft and Apple are in the news. One of them is releasing an operating system that nearly everyone is excited about and the other is under federal investigation for anti-competitive practices. Bet you can’t guess which is which.

Paul Thurrott on his SuperSite blog recently revealed that the Windows 7 upgrade path isn’t going to be as easy as we could hope. In fact, it looks like a nightmare

Email forwarding with Hotmail, not as easy as you think. If you have the free version of hotmail you can't forward out of the Microsoft email family - hotmail, live, msn, etc. But for a price you can get it done.

Trying to convert a word document into a PDF? Sounds fairly easy and straight forward, but unfortunately it really isn’t, as I’ve found out.

The Internet browser wars certainly are heating up. Just a little over ten years ago Netscape dominated the field, but now Microsoft’s Internet Explorer reigns supreme with about 80% of the overall share.

Okay, there's been a lot of electronic ink spilled over Microsoft's recent decision to leave some of the basic applications out of Windows 7, notably an email client and a photo manager. I haven't totally made up my mind yet, but I think this is a huge mistake.

With many alternatives to Microsoft Office these days, one can pretty much throw Office to the curb for good. And many of the alternatives are free. Here's a roundup of some that I've tried.

To those that said such things couldn't or wouldn't happen, here's some back up of my point.

I find it helpful to keep a list of the things that I need to install on a new or re-installed Windows system. I am going to list the specific apps that I install but also talk about them in a generic sense in terms of their function. Please feel free to comment on deficiencies of this list, or also why some of these things may not be needed.

Why does everyone insist on comparing Apple to Microsoft? In my opinion, there is no comparison. It's apples and oranges... er, apples and flags.

With all technology getting smaller and smaller, it should seem obvious that everything should fit in the palm of our hands. But that just isn't a reality just yet.
