Battery Worry For The iPhone 4S

The new iPhone hit the market and not surprising there was massive sale of the new gadget, the honeymoon has been amazing as anyone would expect, but then a glitch has been cropping up from the iPhone 4S users slowly and steadily taking the attention of everyone. There have been rising voices from iPhone 4S over couple of weeks now.

What’s the frustration about?
The new iPhone 4S has battery drain issue. While iPhone line boasts and rides high of good battery life, the new iPhone 4S seems to be proving a shame to the entire line- the battery life of the smartphone has been shedding at a jiffy.

Not all have been complaining of the battery glitch though (mind the phone was launched on October 14, 2011 and its in baby days still) but the Apple support forums is currently flooded with complaints and are posting about loss of battery life even when the phone is not active, the loss as some people put attunes to about 15% every hour, despite no heavy apps running and not actively used.

That said Apple has expected quite some quibbles from the end users due to inability to adopt to the phone, because of glitches from Sprint the new carrier of the iPhone 4S and, the limits on Siri, camera. And the company has been on alert to sort these gripes soon and facilitate users to get used to the phone and was indeed to an extent successful, unfortunately not with the complaints of poor battery, the complaints are not being sorted and rather they are pouring in from all corners.

According to Apple the iPhone 4S battery should be able to run for over eight hours talktime and 200 hours on standby mode, yet users complain that the phone battery doesn’t even last long to the half of the time promised/claimed. Surprisingly not all phones have the issue and there has been a consensus among geeks that it needn’t be the problem of iPhone 4S per se but due to a bug in the phone operating system iOS 5. According to a school of thought the location-based services are killing the battery. If a geographic service/s is turned on the phone works constantly to figure where it is, so even if it’s otherwise not actively being used it will still be sucking the power and draining the battery.

Also the new line iPhone uses better processor which could mean enemy to battery. It’s unsure if Apple insiders acknowledged the existence of the battery drain problem, but
Apple has been trying to contact iPhone 4S users,

Let us hope the issue is sorted soon by Apple engineers, in the interim you may turn off the location-based services and check if it can extend the battery life of the iPhone 4S.
