I went to Google but got Binged! Sort of. ADHEREL
How paranoid is Google of the emerging Bing.com search engine? Today, as many of you have already seen Google is now displaying a background image behind their search box is a fashion very similar to Bing.
Unfortunately, it’s downright painful and annoying to look at, plus the contrast of some of the images they use make it difficult to read the surrounding text. And guess what? You can’t remove the image and go back to the simple, plain white background.
That is you cannot unless you sign up for a Google account and change the background via your settings.
Of course that may be Google’s goal here – get people to sign up for their precious accounts! It probably is, but it will also likely turn people off of their search engine.
If have Google set as your homepage startup you can still revert back to the “White Google” by making sure it’s set to Firefox’s version of the Google homepage.
But we’ll see how this pans out for the search giant.
