Google Maps Adds Biking Directions

Drat! Biking directions are now available on Google Maps. Now your favorite, secretive, dirt path or trail will be exposed the world thanks to Google.

To see it in action just select “Bicycling” from the drop-down menu on a directions search, or visit the main site here.

Google says they already have information on 12,000 miles worth of trails in the U.S., and bike lane locations/recommendations for 150 cities, with more to come of course. Google will also map out the terrain so you can better avoid (or enjoy) those rigorous hills or steep descents.

The project began in October and it remains in beta. As of now the service is only for the U.S.
