Google Makes a Gesture

Earlier today Google announced the release of Gesture Search, a new search for Android phone users with Eclair. ADHEREL

So what does Gesture Search do, and what’s it good for?

According to Google: “Gesture Search from Google Labs lets you search your Android-powered device by drawing alphabet gestures on the touch screen. It allows you to quickly find a contact, a bookmark, an application, or a music track from hundreds or thousands of items, all in one place. It is fast and fun to use. ”

Basically, once the app is installed (from the Android app store no less), you can scribble or fingerpaint letters on the screen and work your way through your contact list, address book, music catalog or whatever. The app will (or should) recognize the letter/letters you draw and filter accordingly. Just don’t use a sharpie, that could cause some problems (or at the very least leave a mark!).
