If you are a webmaster or site owner you know among the most important avenues to success on the internet for any website is its ability to acquire and maintain good backlinks. Sure there’s SEO and content, but if there’s no “votes” back to your site it’s going to suffer in the search rankings. That simple. ADHEREL
The question then becomes, what are the best backlinks and how to do you get them?
Are the links from directories any good?
What about article marketing and press releases?
Social bookmarking?
Blog comments?
Forum signatures?
And so on. There are many different types of links you get and get pretty easily like those I’ve listed above, but unfortunately while they will help get you indexed and give you a bump in the rankings, those methods are probably not going to put you over the top in the tougher niches. You will have to do more.
Among the best backlinks you can get are those from established, respected and aged sites. These “authority” sites are the ones that have been around for years, almost since the dawn of the internet! Those are the golden links we all want, we all seek. Sadly, there just is no easy method to get links from those sites. Instead, it’s going to take a lot of work and effort along with plenty of rejection, but the payoff could be huge.
You will need to contact the site owner, make your link request sales pitch including a solid reason as to why they should link to you and go from there. In your pitch refrain from the tired PR and search engine implications and concentrate on the visitor experience. “Hello, you have a great pet supplies site… You may be interested in a review I wrote about a product XYZ you sell. By linking to it perhaps your visitors may find it helpful…” etc.
Sure, it’s a longshot but it’s a numbers game in many ways. If you can hit 1-of-20 authority-type sites you are far better off than gaining 1,000 links from social bookmarking and article marketing. At least that’d be my preference.
So instead of spending hours placing links links on socials sites, for a change why not trying sending out some customized emails to some top authority sites relevant to your niche instead. Again, it’s a lot of hard work but the end result could be enormous. Nothing comes easy in this world, especially backlinks!

It’s a common myth that you have to get links from relevant sites. The author here nailed it by suggesting the best are those from aged authority sites. Those seem to carry the most weight – not link relevance.
That’s good advice thanks!
