More News on the DRM Front

Take this for what it is, but I have it on pretty good authority that Apple is working to make the “majority” of their media DRM-free… including movies and TV shows.

Yowza!

Dunno where you heard that Mike. Yes Apple is working certainly toward DRM free music via iTunes Plus but no word yet on video. Some music videos also might be upgraded to the DRM free iTunes Plus format but movies and TV show downloads from iTunes Store owned by major TV news networks and the MPAA won’t give up on DRM just yet.

The video industry still doesn’t get it — even though the music industry has finally learned and accepted that DRM free is the right way the video companies still insist on DRM to protect their media.

Well, suffice it to say I can’t divulge my source because it could get them in trouble. But they said unequivocally that Apple was working on it. Now, that doesn’t mean that they’ll achieve that goal; but I hope they do.
