If you are like me and you own a fair amount of internet domains names, then you are probably aware of Namecheap, which offers discount domain name registration. And you are probably also aware of Godaddy, the market leader in the field.

Godaddy certainly has the name recognition, the hot models in their commercials and even Danica Patrick, and price-wise the two are about the same (around $10 for a new domain), but for efficiency and support, Namecheap.com is my choice for registering and renewing domains.
Godaddy does give you a lot of options; so many if fact that it will take upwards of half your day just to get sift through them all while purchasing your piece of internet real estate. So if you just registering/managing a few domains, Godaddy’s not a terrible choice. But if you are in the double figures, or in my case into the three figures, you’ll want a better, more efficient user interface and an easier registration process which Namecheap provides.
Like Godaddy and most budget domain outfits, Namecheap also offers monthly discount coupons for new registrations. You can find these coupons (like gobblegobble which was the November one I believe) on the net by a simple google search. The coupons can drop the price a buck or two to under $9 per domain. I know it might not seem like much but it adds up over time. And if you do have more than 50 domains in your account, Namecheap offers rare domain renewal coupons upon request. Just email then and they’ll reveal the magic code which will again knock off a buck or so on your renewal. Not bad, really.
Now I do still have a few domains registered at Godaddy, and a few even at Enom, and it’s probably not a bad thing that if you do plan on developing your domains to spread them out a bit so if things go wrong at one registrar you are not completely screwed. That said, I would go with Namecheap if you had to settle on just one, but YMMV and I know there are plenty of other great domain registration places out there.
