Kate Beckinsale is from London, England. She was born on July 26, 1973 and is a well-known English actress who is best known for her roles in the films Pearl Harbor in 2001; Underworld in 2003; and Van Helsing in 2004. It should come as no surprise that she has been so successful though. After all, her father is the actor Richard Beckinsale and her mother is the actress Judy Loe. Not to mention, her paternal half-sister is also an actress.
Throughout her childhood, Kate Beckinsale attended private all-girls independent schools in London. As a teenager she won the W. H. Smith Young Writers' competition twice. One time was for a set of three short stories that she wrote and the second time was for a set of three poems that she had written. This writing was coupled with a rebellious period in her adolescence before she finally gave in and followed in her parents' footsteps as she began an acting career.
The first role that Kate Beckinsale held was in One Against the Wind. This was a television film that was about World War II. It first aired in 1991. After her role in this movie, Kate Beckinsale went on to gain three language A levels. She studied French and Russian literature at New College, Oxford. Unfortunately though, she never did go on to finish her degree. Yet, she still feels as though having an academic background studying foreign language and literature would broaden her range of acting roles.
