Jordin Sparks Biography

Jordin Sparks was born on December 22, 1989 in Glendale, Arizona, USA. She attended Sandra Day O'Connor High School until 2006 when she began being homeschooled in order that she could concentrate more upon her singing. She actually won an award for Best Young Artist Of The Year In Arizona for three years straight.  She also worked to endorse the Christian novels that Michelle Buckmon wrote for teenagers: Maggie Come Lately and My Beautiful Disaster.

Her decision to spend more time on her music proved to be a good decision because on May 23, 2007, Jordin Sparks was declared the winner of the sixth season of the reality television show American Idol. At this time she was only 17-years-old, making her the youngest winner in American Idol history. As a devoted Christian, who attends Calvary Community Church in Phoenix, Arizona, she is known to have thanked both God and her parents for this win.

Today Jordin Sparks is known as a pop and R&B singer.  She also plays guitar. Within the past year, Jordin Sparks has been associated with the musical acts of Michael W. Smith, Gary Leach, Alice Cooper and Chris Brown.  On the other hand, she has claimed to have been influenced by the musical acts of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Donna Summer and Chris Brown. Also throughout the past year, she has appeared on the cover of World, which is an Evangelical Christian news magazine.
