Christina Aguilera Biography
Christina Aguilera was born on December 18, 1980 in New York City, New York. She is an American pop singer-songwriter who was originally signed by RCA Records after she recorded “Reflection” for the film Mulan.
Throughout her childhood Christina Aguilera had always aspired to be a singer. She was influenced by singers such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Nina Simone and Madonna. She was inspired by the musical, The Sound of Music, and its lead actress, Julie Andrews. Throughout her childhood Christina Aguilera was known locally as "the little girl with the big voice," as she sang in numerous local talent shows and competitions.
Christina Aguilera's first television appearance was on the March 15, 1990's edition of Star Search. She sang Etta James' song, "A Sunday Kind of Love." However, she lost the competition. Soon afterwards she appeared on Pittsburgh's KDKA-TV's Wake Up with Larry Richert and performed the same song. This time she was well received. From there she went on to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for many of the professional sports teams in Pittsburgh. Then in 1993 she received her first major role on Disney Channel's “The Mickey Mouse Club” where she starred with Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell. After the end of the show, Christina Aguilera recorder her first show, at the age of 14, “All I Wanna Do.”
Since her childhood, Christina Aguilera has taken charge of her own career. While she has been successful with this, she has also received a lot of criticism as well. Nevertheless, Christina Aguilera is well known for her vocal ability and ever-changing image. This has brought her numerous awards, including five Grammies, and nominations. She has also sold more than 37 million records worldwide.
